Spiralworm ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 12:31:48 So what happens if both men got burned or none got burned? Ever thought of that? Did u see the thief smiling when the chief said u had betrayed us. lol. He looked like he was enjoying it. __________________________________________________
dbassplayer ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 12:33:49 Now wait a minute... we should do that in America... *thinks about the sacred herbs* __________________________________________________

fool8 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 12:50:02 Why in the world would it be "magic"?? Magic only exist when you want to impress someone... they're actually doing this on what they believe in...If they think that putting their hands in boiling oil could solve the case in a trial then why not?? I know scientists wouldn't approve on this thing but...that's what makes them scientists... does it make sense? :] =] __________________________________________________
KiaSoSweet ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 12:55:37 Wow is all i can say lol. INTERESTING! __________________________________________________
KiaSoSweet ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 12:55:52 I agree __________________________________________________
Heckler420 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 13:06:34 I think the idea of it is to get the guilty party / liar to confess before hand. To someone who has been wronged and knows it, their convictions are much stronger. The guilty, knowing he is wrong would probably admit to something before doucing their hand with boiling oils. Indeed, its a bit primative, but it seems to work :) __________________________________________________
yellowlane19 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 13:49:09 Cool video how does that work __________________________________________________
chadaniels ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 14:58:51 That it's easy to say that kind of thing is "primitive", but in western culture similar kind of stuff happens all the time. I'm just saying that there is no real difference. __________________________________________________
xxtwinkiepiratexx ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 15:55:13 this is like the ancient germans trial of ordeal..barbaric unhumane and FUCKING INSANE! __________________________________________________
ilovethepickle0 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 17:18:52 I agree with you. Up until the "primitive" part. The anthropologist in me doesn't like that word, haha. But yeah I think that seems about right! __________________________________________________
alikokos ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 17:29:14 its like magic. if you found out then it wouldnt work, eh __________________________________________________
lukygirl314 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 18:51:12 This method was simular to what is told in the bible about two women each claiming that a baby was thiers so the king said to split the baby in half... one women said "okay" and the other women said "no". Instantly they knew that the women who did not want to bring harm to the baby was the true mother. This method is not as primative as you would think... it is phsycological :) __________________________________________________
tylermanchesteruntd ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 19:23:04 so really, its not who the oil's gonna burn, but its about who's confident they wont get burnt (even though they will) __________________________________________________
Truthiness231 ::: Favorites 2007-11-08 19:52:52 This reminds me of the old puritan method of testing for witches: tie a large weight to a person and drop them in water to see if they float. Hey, if they live they must be a witch, right? Pretty simple, really... Seriously though, while I'm all for preserving the culture of all societies, this kind of shit needs to be stopped. Not forcibly (I'm looking at you U.S.), but by explaining to them how batshitcrazy this is. __________________________________________________ |
