michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 01:45:39 I work outside....had to wear a breathing mask today. A former coworker who transfered to Escondido came by to visit us, he was sent home, his route is on fire...The winds have been sooooo bad. My home is not threatened, thank God, at least it is not currently. I'm not far from Escondido and Fallbrook, some of the places on fire today/tonight. __________________________________________________
alienspy07 ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 01:50:56 Yah, it sucks. Going outside for two minutes gives me a headache and it looks like it's sunset at noon because of the lighting. Luckily I don't live close enough to the fires to have been evacuated, though. Did you take these yourself or did you find them? __________________________________________________
donny71954 ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 01:59:26 Im praying! __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 02:00:00 Wow, a local has already responded! That was quick. Yeah, I'm so glad I have tuesdays off so I don't have to be out in that air again tomorrow .. although I always wear sunglasses so that helps in regards to the ash in the air. I did not take any of the photos...they're from newsstories. __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 02:01:14 Yeah there's a lot of hurting people tonight :( __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 02:40:08 Apparently, the update, is that in San Diego county alone there's been 300,000 residents evacuated and another 250,000 between S.D. and L.A. __________________________________________________
CagedSongBird ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 09:28:40 This has been all over the news. I feel so bad for everyone. Are you okay? My prayers are with all of California! (((Hugs))) to you & yours... Paula __________________________________________________
Jaynagurl ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 12:31:15 I haven't been watching the news...I've got some family to call in San Diego, thanx :) __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 13:25:18 Yep, I'm fine so far. Thank you :) __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 13:26:38 There's also Lake Arrowhead, Malibu, Stevenson Ranch/Valencia area as well as S.D. __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 14:08:45 Anytime there are disasters like this, I always hope it makes people think about what really matters in life. As people watch this on the news, I hope they reflect on the fact that we can't take any of this 'stuff' with us when we go. :) Life is short, and life does not consist of the things we have. That is why as I sit here, I'm not worried. :) I serve a God who provides me with all I need, and I know my life does not consist in all the junk I have here in my house. __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 14:19:56 To anyone who may be following this...I just added one more link in the description which gives current details..the link is at the top of the list, first one. Two fires which are uncomfortably close to me are #12 the Poomacha fire and #15 the Roca fire, also, the entire town of Fallbrook has been evacuated and it is close, too. With these 100mph winds, the embers are blown everywhere... I'm honestly not worried, though. Maybe I should be? LOL :) __________________________________________________
blueridge08865 ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 20:23:04 I've been told the evacuation number is at 1 million people...with those winds...this is very dangerous situation you are in Michelle! follow the guidence of the authorities...and be careful...God Bless __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 21:07:40 Blueridge, please do not worry, if they tell us to evacuate we will not hesitate! :) Our city has a reverse 911 system in which we will be called if they want us to evacuate. There are two fires which are very close (close enough that I can see each of them, one from my front yard, one from my back yard!) but they are each a few miles away. The troublesome thing is that the wind is STILL not letting up. __________________________________________________
michelle2chat ::: Favorites 2007-10-23 21:29:38 The one I can see from the backyard is the "Rosa" fire (different from the "Roca" fire), which is up in the De Luz hills to the west of us, that one is not a threat, too far away. The one I can see from the front yard is one I'm not exactly sure about but I think its the Poomacha fire. __________________________________________________ |
