Description: Denmark can show us a thing or 2 about wind turbines. Of course, no power source is the end all be all and a happy balance would do us well. In windy states I see areas and maybe improvements that may need to be made so that the turbines aren't such a blight but I understand the usefulness of harnessing energy from all natural resources, such as solar for very sunny areas. I just do not like the nuclear thing..never have and never will. Also , Was This News Item Paid for By GE? Is it some of that fake news placed out as a NEWS Public concern item? Also a Subscriber wants to know how much GE is getting from the Government under the Grant? I think that is an important question. |

SaveWesternOHIO ::: Favorites 2007-12-02 18:29:51 To answer saadism's Q, see Business Week's article "Little Green Lies" where Babcock and Brown's VP Engineering, John Calaway tells that 40 cents of every 92 cents the wind energy industry receives per megawatt hour comes from government subsidy, not from selling power! __________________________________________________
SaveWesternOHIO ::: Favorites 2007-12-02 18:24:35 NBC Has bias to tell ne side of the wind energy story. Owned by GE, the leading American manufacturer of wind turbines, they purchased ENRON WIND at auction after the company filed bankruptcy, an inconvenient penalty for LYING TO THE PUBLIC. Tell us GE/NBC/Enron, is wind energy as pure and green as you make it sound? Tell the truth now. Deja vu. __________________________________________________
freedomlost2007 ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 15:07:12 I remember the LILCO troubles of the 80's big over runs in construction of the LILCO plant. Big Power bills for consumers ect. They called Nuke plants big white elephants for 20 years. __________________________________________________
saadasim ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 13:19:20 I think the answer has to be a multifaceted: Reduce, reuse, recycle. No tax breaks to SUVs. High taxes to cars in city. Better mass transit. Better urban design. Scooters, bicycles, segways, etc. And yes, nuclear but make sure that the operator has a big insurance supporting them. __________________________________________________
freedomlost2007 ::: Favorites 2007-11-12 09:58:26 saadasim -continuing conversation. I do not think the monster turbines are the answer. And I really dislike nuclear. So perhapes they will try to really make wind power look ugly to make nuclear "more Pretty" hahaha great vocabulary I have this morning. Anyway, it is like a problem ,reaction , solution __________________________________________________ |
