The mpd has no sequencer, so it doesn't have the famous 'mpc swing'. But it does feel more solid than the korg looks.

Absolutely. the point here though is to see if it's possible to work up a proficiency with this instrument which would make it possible to perform (perhaps even improvise) in a live setting. For a great example of how this can work out check out the live mpc work of 'aswell' (its on youtube).

hoi. lately i use a 1-bar rhythmic phrase to have a timing reference, the phrase is mapped to one of the pads (see the video 'response' to this post for an example).
